Mule Skinner

Here is my version of what a Mule Skinner would look like. It's actually from a photo of a real life artist Frank Hagel who I think makes a fabulous model.

Old Tom Morris

What an interesting face this gentleman has. He is Tom Morris.

Old Tom Morris, as he was known, was the most influential figure in the early (pre-1900) history of golf. He was a great player, clubmaker, greenskeeper and course designer.

Morris pioneered many of what are now considered the first modern approaches to greenskeeping. He also was one of the first great course designers, taking a role in designing or remodeling around 75 courses according to the World Golf Hall of Fame.
Among those Old Tom helped shape are Prestwick, Royal Dornoch, Muirfield, Carnoustie, Royal County Down, Nairn and Cruden Bay - still some of the most famous golf courses in the world.
Old Tom Morris still holds two British Open records: oldest champion (age 46 in 1867) and largest margin of victory (13 in 1862). He played in every British Open until 1895. Interesting fellow wasn't he!

Washing the Pots

This lovely lady needs a Maytag. As I painted her I tried to get a woman who was old but with a happy expression on her face. But try as I might she still had the look of a woman tired of scrubbing all those pots. I don't blame her, I would be too.

Dog Tired

Here is another painting of a favorite subject of mine....a cute dog.

Wheelbarrows

This summer when our whole family was at a dude ranch in Colorado, I photographed these wheelbarrows. Believe me, the young wranglers who worked on the ranch put these to good use on a daily basis. Being able to photograph all three of them at an idle moment was a lucky shot.

Nap Time

I love painting animals and this dog taking a siesta was lots of fun.

Commuters

This painting was fun to work on. I wanted to keep it lose and fresh and I think I achieved that. Printing the name of our local newspaper 0n the front gave it a home town touch.
