Washing the Pots

This lovely lady needs a Maytag. As I painted her I tried to get a woman who was old but with a happy expression on her face. But try as I might she still had the look of a woman tired of scrubbing all those pots. I don't blame her, I would be too.

Dog Tired

Here is another painting of a favorite subject of mine....a cute dog.

Wheelbarrows

This summer when our whole family was at a dude ranch in Colorado, I photographed these wheelbarrows. Believe me, the young wranglers who worked on the ranch put these to good use on a daily basis. Being able to photograph all three of them at an idle moment was a lucky shot.

Nap Time

I love painting animals and this dog taking a siesta was lots of fun.

Commuters

This painting was fun to work on. I wanted to keep it lose and fresh and I think I achieved that. Printing the name of our local newspaper 0n the front gave it a home town touch.

Bovine

I wanted to try painting a cow with twilight lighting. This gave me the opportunity to make the lights warm and the shadows cool. I like the contrast that happens in this setting.

Cow and Calf at Twilight

I started thinking about the evening light as soon as daylight savings ended a few weeks ago. I have never painted an evening scene so I tried this cow and her calf in the twilight and found it challenging and fun at the same time. I'm constantly going back and repainting certain areas that don't seem to work. I've done this so many times I think I should just start a whole new painting using the night time light.
